Join children's book author Bakari Sellers in read along is his book WHO ARE YOUR PEOPLE? When you meet someone for the first time, they might ask, "Who are your people?" and "Where are you from?"
Children are shaped by their ancestors, and this book celebrates the village it takes to raise a child. This powerful picture book with beautiful illustrations by Reggie Brown is a joyful recognition of the people and places that help define young readers and adults alike.Bakari's presentation will be followed by a "how-to" from Ready for Learning, Ready for Life on how to make reading fun and engaging for your kids.

About the authors

BAKARI SELLERS was born into an activist family. His father, civil rights leader Cleveland Sellers, instilled core values in him to continue in the tireless commitment to service. In 2005 Bakari earned a bachelor's degree in African-American Studies from Morehouse College. He continued his education at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2008 earning a juris doctor. In 2006 he made history in the South Carolina state legislature as the youngest African American elected official in the nation, at the age of 22. Bakari currently practices law with the Strom Law Firm, LLC in Columbia, SC where he heads the firm’s Strategic Communication and Public Affairs team and has recently added Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consulting to the list of services offered. Sellers is married to his wife Dr. Ellen Rucker-Sellers and father to twins Sadie and Stokely.
